As I had decided , I shifted to use of Nitroprusside infusion for inducing hypotension during anesthesia. I made a 20 microgram /ml infusion and ran it at 0.5 microgram/kg/min to start with. The rate was titrated upwards to desired level of hypotension.
To the eye , it does not seem to be much different in inducing hypotension compared to nitroglycerine infusion although as I wrote earlier it has advantages physiologically. And neither did I observe any significant rebound hypertension in the patients.
